End Internet Censorship (SOPA/PIAA)

by Rony on January 18, 2012

As a media professional and freelance journalist I RARELY if not NEVER voice my opinions on politics. However this here below is important and should it be passed by the United States Senate — could change the internet as we know it forever.

PROTECT IP / SOPA Breaks The Internet from Fight for the Future on Vimeo.

On Wednesday Jan. 18th thousands of sites will go dark to protest SOPA & PIPA, two US bills racing through Congress that threaten prosperity, online security, and freedom of expression.

I was back in Waterville, Maine over the weekend trying to make attempts to speak to the DiPietro Family on Ayla’s Disappearance.  It has been three weeks since the now 21-month old went missing from her home.

The first day I was there I had the opportunity to briefly speak to Pheobe, Ayla’s grandmother off-camera just to introduce myself.

Pheobe was guarded and emotional about her granddaughter but agreed that her son, Justin needed to speak out.

She declined to be interviewed on camera but later changed her mind and spoke with CNN.  In the interview which aired Saturday,  she hinted that someone may have been watching the family from afar in the weeks prior to Ayla’s disappearance and that there were several oddities in the home the morning after she was reported missing.

The following day I finally met  Justin DiPietro who welcomed me inside his home. For over an hour he spoke candidly about the events of the last three weeks. He couldn’t talk about the specifics about what happened the night he put Ayla to bed or who was in the house.

He did describe how Ayla broke her arm and ended up with a soft-cast.

DiPietro said it happened back in November while he was carrying little Ayla in one arm and groceries in another when he accidentally slipped and fell on top of her. DiPietro described it has dark and rainy that night.

In our conversation he talked how he was determined to bring his daughter home at times saying:

“It’s not about me or anyone else it’s about bring Ayla home.” DiPietro guarded his emotions very well and by the end of our conservation, he agreed to an on-camera interview with ABC News’ Andrea Canning.

Sunday came a crew drove up from Boston, Andrea flew up from New York and we knocked on the DiPietro door.

Justin had changed his mind stating respectfully declining an interview that he didn’t seem that it was necessary good for him to go on camera again to get the story out  about his daughter.

Members of the public with any tips or information  regarding Ayla Reynolds is urged to contact Maine State Police at 207-624-7076.
